Did You Know?

Yes Plastic Does last almost 500 years

Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is the primary material used to make traditional plastic bottles due to its lightweight and flexible nature. However, PET is notoriously difficult to decompose because bacteria cannot consume and break down the chemicals used in its production. As a result, a single plastic bottle made from PET can take up to 450 years to decompose, posing a significant environmental threat. As plastics break down into smaller and smaller pieces, they create nanoplastics that can enter our ecosystem and cause harm to both wildlife and humans. Traces of micro and nanoplastics have been found in the Arctic Ocean, and shockingly, even in the placentas of unborn babies. To mitigate the impact of plastic pollution on the environment, it is crucial to explore alternative materials and reduce our reliance on single-use plastic products.
